So how do we achieve this together?

With a combination of cognitive behavioural therapy (you may more commonly know this as CBT) and hypnotherapy (and more).

Oh – and everything I do is based in the EVIDENCE – stuff that WORKS, that has CREDIBLE research behind it – NO ‘woo-woo’.

No outrageous claims of ‘cures’ or ‘instant’ long term fixes. Because they just do not exist.

CBT is the most well-researched psychotherapy there is.

Hypnotherapy? No, this is not some fringe treatment, parlour trick or ‘magic’ – I am most definitely not Derren Brown (though we both have fine beards!). 

Hypnotherapy is an induced, hyper-focused state of attention that makes you more suggestible and helps us re-frame thoughts and feelings.

More importantly hypnotherapy is a process in which YOU are in control. 

Oh! – and it is approved by both the BPS (British Psychological Society) and the APA (American Psychological Association) as a treatment.

Double-oh! – as part of the therapy I teach you self-hypnosis so you can access this amazing state when you need to.

So how does it all work?

The key here is that we work TOGETHER.

  • A 15-minute FREE chat so we can meet, I can understand your SPECIFIC NEEDS,

  • (I will not ‘pitch you’ - this is a chance to see if I am able to help you, and for you to see if you feel you can work with me!)

  • In Session 1 we go do deeper and create a full assessment and work out a TREATMENT PLANspecific goals, approaches to treatment and time frames.

  • Then weekly/fortnightly/other sessions as YOUR NEED dictates.

  • We’ll use recordings and tasks to listen to/complete between sessions to accelerate your progress.

  • We may use CBT, hypnotherapy, mindfulness, ACT*, REBT*, breath work and more.

The exact combination of approaches we use will depend upon YOUR NEEDS and PERSONALITY (therapy is very much unique to each individual) – and this gives us greater flexibility and a far better chance of success.

Is therapy guaranteed to work?

In a nutshell – no. And anyone who tells you their method is guaranteed to work is simply lying.

It depends upon you being open to it, willing to work at it and being honest with yourself and me.

But I am extremely good at what I do – I am fully qualified and in a meaningful way – and my clients are many and varied, and do make progress.

 

FAQs

  • We will have an initial phone discussion around your needs, outcomes desired and answer any questions you may have.

    You can then go away and think about whether you wish to proceed – I will NEVER do a ‘big sell’ on you. It is important that we both take time to think about whether we are suitable for each other, and you think a bout whether you want to really commit.

  • In session 1 we go deeper into your life and work out specific goals. I then go away and draw up a considered treatment plan that guides the next sessions.

  • I currently work via Zoom. This makes it far more convenient for you – less travel, less re-arranging, less hassle.

  • Yes.

    There are many creditable, published research studies that say it is – for example in The Journal of Anxiety Disorders n 2018. The evidence says that it is highly effective.

    Not only that, but my clients will also vouch for it!

  • My clients range from lawyers to stay-at-home spouses to CEOs to business people to students aged 14 upwards. I help everyone!

  • You either pay in advance of each individual session, or in advance of the first in the case of a block of 5 sessions.

  • I do not give out copies of the presentation resources.

  • ACT – Acceptance and Commitment Therapy – a clinically effective form of behavioural therapy that combines mindfulness skills with self-acceptance to help develop psychological flexibility.

    REBT – Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy – a form of CBT that is action oriented that helps people deal with irrational beliefs.

  • Errr, no.

    Firstly, this is serious, meaningful therapy. It is not a game or entertainment.

    Secondly, you are in control throughout hypnosis. You are not magically under my control. You only accept what you choose to accept.

    It is about you, not me.
