Barry is absolutely phenomenal at his job. I went to him with a number of issues i needed to work through such as stress and overthinking and I had been trying to resolve on my own and wasn't succeeding very well.

Straight away he made me feel at ease by his extremely happy and positive demeanor. Over the course of 8 sessions we talked and worked through the problems I was facing. I felt I could really open up to Barry without any judgement and he taught me techniques that I will now take through life with me.

8 weeks later and I feel like I have control of my life. Before, I was getting angry and wound up at the smallest of things but now I know how to control my emotions before outbursts happen. I have control over the stress I experience and the negative thoughts I have. 

He also helped me take a massive step in my life at coming off antidepressants as it was clear I no longer needed them. I couldn't have done this without him and I feel amazing now.

Barry and I now have catch ups every so often to see how I am doing and I know he really genuinely cares about you as an individual not just as another client. I look forward to my catch ups with Barry as it’s like talking to an old friend you've not seen in ages.

I have been talking with Barry now for 3/4 months. Initially I wanted to talk to Barry about a drop in drive, commitment and apathy that I was feeling towards a lot of my goals. Barry has been pivotal in helping me look at the bigger picture of who I am, what my goals are, what I actually want to do and ultimately taking small steps and stacking the bricks in my favour and becoming the person who I want to be; not only designing what those goals are but then helping me be accountable to the things that I said I would do.

I feel more in control. It is down to those daily practices, grounding on a regular basis and the routines that Barry has helped to design and put in place, influencing the choices that I make on a regular basis.

I wanted to talk to somebody who understands what it's like to work remotely, by yourself, for many hours of the day. Barry has helped immensely in terms of treating work as work and my own time outside of family and friends as what it should be, and prioritising that to being a lot more balanced, a lot more centred.

I feel a lot more like the person that I want to be but I also have a lot more perception in terms of what my goals are and the progress that I am making towards those goals.

We contacted Barry after my 16 year old son was taken into hospital with a bad anxiety attack. This was very frightening for all of us as it came out of the blue!

Barry was amazing with my son and due to the pandemic spoke to him via zoom link. From the moment my son spoke to Barry he felt better and able to feel calmer again.

You have very quickly understood what we needed, and what our girls needed.

Last term, the girls really responded to you. You set tasks for them to work on at home; this allowed the girls to move forward. Your support also helps our Pastoral Managers’ workload.

It also reduces parental stress, which has been much appreciated.

Dad rang to say life at home since lockdown was incredibly difficult and she has become a different person.  She is screaming and shouting; everything they suggest or do as parents is wrong or worsens the situation.

Unpicking this, Barry found she is overwhelmed by stress relating to exams and future choices. She is a person who does not normally open up (according to Dad) but she is now willing/wanting to engage.

With one week to go before the GCSE tests finish, she is finally starting to relax, laugh and be happy.  We have noticed a significant improvement in her mental health. Barry’s intervention stopped her from not only becoming school phobic/school refuser but enabled the family to function once again as a cohesive unit.
