Young Adults (13-18) and Parents

Once a teacher always a teacher?

Although I have changed career as an experienced secondary school teacher, Assistant Principal, senior curriculum and pastoral leader I've had the privilege of working with thousands of young adults and their parents on their journey towards happiness and success. It's a passion of mine that still burns brightly to this day, and I still work with students in and out of schools.

Having witnessed the worries, challenges, and anxieties that young adults face—both within and outside the school environment—I am wholeheartedly committed to helping them overcome these obstacles and develop into happy, resilient, and confident individuals who embrace their true potential.

Partnering with me can open doors to identifying the root causes of issues and learning new strategies to manage and conquer the roadblocks that hold you back.

Rest assured, the techniques I employ are backed by solid evidence, offering remarkable versatility. You'll discover that progress in one area can have a positive impact on other aspects of your life. Through cognitive-behavioral techniques, we'll foster psychological flexibility and cultivate long-term resilience skills for optimal mental health.

I take a collaborative approach when working with young adults and their parents, offering support in various areas, including:

  • managing exam stress and performance

  • social anxiety

  • confidence-building

  • overcoming shyness

  • navigating social dynamics

  • adapting to changes in school environment

  • developing a Growth Mindset (trust me, it can make a huge difference for your child!)

  • navigating social media challenges

  • establishing a balanced relationship with mobile phones

  • effective revision and preparation techniques

  • exploring career pathways and more

Before we formally agree to work together, we schedule a Zoom chat with parents and/or the young adult to discuss your specific needs and determine if we're a good fit for each other. During this conversation I'll gladly address any questions you may have.

Once therapy begins, the one-on-one sessions will be exclusively between the young adult and myself. Rest assured, the content of these sessions is strictly confidential, shared only with a parent when the young adult explicitly grants permission, or in situations where concerns about safety — either theirs or others' — arise. I'll provide general updates to parents at relevant milestones throughout the process.

For your peace of mind, I hold an up-to-date enhanced DBS check, ensuring my continued suitability for working with young adults.

So, if you're ready to embark on this transformative journey, let's connect and discuss how I can support you and your child. Together, we'll nurture their growth, resilience, and well-being.
