A little bit about me…
Psychologist & Psychotherapist
MSc, CBH, PGCE
I was clueless about what I wanted to do for all of my teens and 20s.
Clueless.
Then I found the delights of performing on stage and (finally) did a degree in Drama and Theatre Studies. From there, I was briefly an actor when I thought I would ‘try’ teaching - for 19 years, lol. I served as a secondary school teacher and then Executive Director of Sixth Form across 4 schools.
But here's the thing: I wanted more from my life than working 14 hours straight every day, hardly seeing my wife and kids, and never looking after myself. So. In 2020 I (and my family, by default) took the very scary plunge - I finished my teaching career and retrained in BPS accredited and evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy to set up my own psychotherapy and coaching practice in beautiful Bath, in the UK.
Then I did a Masters degree in Psychology (Mental Health and Wellbeing) because I wanted to know more and just be - as good as I can be.
Now? I focus on helping people and organisations get better sleep, make stress work for them, improve their work performance and mental health using evidence based practices.
And I also teach and mentor other therapists in CBH, as well as being an Associate Lecturer in Psychology at Wolverhampton University.
I love it all. I have a new, very different life than before where I focus on me, my family and my clients.
Happier? Healthier? More fulfilled?
Yes, yes and yes.
And I LOVE teaching people how to get to the same place, from students to CEOs and everything in between.
What am I like as a person? Optimistic, fun, challenging, solution focused, empathetic, with some great Dad jokes. Which is also what I am like as a therapist and coach, only with a little more professionalism. I also practice what I preach and walk the talk - I take care of my mental and physical well-being through intentional habits and practices like yoga, breath work, self-hypnosis, nutrition habits and my least favourite hobby - hitting the gym.
Life has taught me invaluable lessons through both successes and failures. I've experienced incredible highs and some really tough lows. I’ve come from a tough background and learnt to change adversity into opportunity (sounds cheesy but - true). And you know what? I've developed a can-do attitude, an optimistic outlook on life. I've achieved some of my dreams, and I'm still working on the rest.
So, if you're ready to take control of your sleep, stress, mental health, and work performance and think we might be a good fit, let's connect!
I'm here to guide and support you every step of the way.
Oh, and here is a bit about why I am qualified to do what I do in case you are interested…….
