Help your students and staff to better mental health.

Workshops and seminars from an Assistant Principal and psychotherapist that educate and teach practical mental health management skills.

Schools are struggling to help students and teachers to GAIN and MAINTAIN good mental health.

High on the mental health agenda for both students and staff?

-        managing stress

-        preparing for exams/the exam period

-        building resilience

-        dealing with anxiety around Covid

-        managing workloads

-        building resilience

-        self-care as prevention, not the cure

-        maintaining good general mental health

As a 2022 report from UCL, the Chartered College for Teaching and the Institute for Global Health said,

“Schools and teachers provide vital support but they are buckling under the strain of the demands placed on them.”

So, how might you benefit from my expertise?

You get targeted workshops and seminars for students, teachers and support staff - as stand alone sessions, part of a series or as an extension to your existing programme of support. I -

- start with your specific needs

- listen to you

- create and deliver material that serves your needs in a format that is appropriate to your goals

Why should you work with me?

I get what it is to be both a teacher and school senior leader, leading on both mental health and academia.

As an Assistant Principal and Safeguarding and Pastoral Lead I have created and delivered workshops, training and presentations to students, parents, teachers, support staff, SLTs and across a Trust.

As a psychotherapist and coach I use solution focused, evidence based mental health practices that work - such as cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness.

So - I combine my detailed experience of schools and the education system with my teaching skills and mental health knowledge to make sure that attendees take usable skills away with them that can be applied in the real world.

I do not just give out information. Or advice. Or facts and figures. Because – frankly - ANYONE can just Google that.

I do -

  • empower teachers, students, support staff and SLTs

  • teach mental health skills

  • ensure sessions are tailored to your specific needs

  • help relieve the pressure on schools

  • deliver in a way that is relatable to all in schools

What do others say about me?

Your school insight is great. You have very quickly understood what we needed, and what our girls needed. Last term, the girls really responded to you. You set tasks for them to work on at home; this allowed the girls to move forward. Your support also helps our Pastoral Managers’ workload. It also reduces parental stress, which has been much appreciated. School, 2021.

The talk by Barry was really great, it was so interesting to hear about the chemical parts of mental health and he was a really good speaker. School, 2021

The response from students has been very positive and I am glad to say we have had good feedback from both students and parents. School, 2021.

They (the students) really enjoyed the interactive bits because it made them really think about their stress triggers. School, 2021.

FAQs

  • We will have an initial phone discussion around your needs, outcomes desired, dates available and which package is most suitable for you.

I will then go away and create an outline of the workshop/training following that, and I will send you the outline of that via email.

You can accept it as it is, or we can amend it as is needed.

Then I will write and deliver it!

  • If you need to change the content once we have agreed it and I need to spend time changing material I charge this at £80 per hour. So it is best to make sure you are happy before signing it off!

If the changes are very minor and quick to do, there will be no additional charge.

  • That really depends on how, and to whom, you want it delivered.

Generally I will need access to an appropriate space for the numbers attending, the internet and a projector and screen.

If there are any paper resources to be used I will send you the appropriate files for printing.

  • If you book a 1-off workshop, payment must be made to me within 1 week of the event.

If you book a series of 3 or 5 workshops, I will invoice you for the full amount after the first event.

  • I do not give out copies of the presentation resources although I may send you, if appropriate, key slides.
