Young Adults 13+ and Parents

More and more children and teenagers are struggling with anxiety, worries and stress.

Whether it’s about school, friendships, social media, exams or a range of other things; thankfully there’s a growing body of evidence to show the ways children and teenagers can be supported to be happier and more confident.

I understand the pressures of school.

As a teacher, Assistant Principal and senior curriculum and pastoral leader I’ve worked with thousands of young adults and their parents to help them become happy and successful. It’s a passion of mine that has continued.

Having seen first-hand the worries, challenges and anxieties that children can have, both in and out of school, I am committed to helping them overcome these and become happy, resilient and confident in who they are and what they are capable of.

Working with a therapist and coach can help you to identify the causes of problems and help you learn new ways of managing and overcoming the things that are holding you back.

The techniques I use are evidence based, incredibly versatile and you will find that progress in one area may also have a positive impact upon other areas of your life. The cognitive behavioural techniques I use involve building psychological flexibility and long-term resilience skills for good mental health.

I work collaboratively with young adults to help young adults and their parents with:

  • social anxiety

  • confidence

  • shyness

  • fitting in

  • worries about tests/exams

  • friendships

  • starting school

  • returning to school

  • changing school

  • developing a ‘Growth Mindset’ (ask me how this can make a huge difference to your child!)

  • social media

  • relationships with their mobile phones

  • revision and preparation

  • career pathways and more

A parent/guardian/carer will need to give written permission for treatment to take place, as well as the young adult.

I always have a parent/guardian or main caregiver in the room at the start of treatment so that we can go over the basics together and I can answer any questions you may have. Once therapy starts it will be a 1 -2 1 session between myself and the young adult.

Please note that the content of these sessions is confidential between the young adult and myself. I will only share information with a parent with the young adult’s express permission, or unless I have other concerns about their safety or in keeping with a court order.

I have an up to date, enhanced DBS check for working with young adults.
